The Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) is committed to helping deserving and financially challenged students achieve their educational goals. The institute provides a variety of scholarships that offer benefits such as college fee concessions and direct transfers of funds to students' bank accounts. IIT Patna's scholarship offerings include central and state scheme scholarships, UGC scholarships, and institute-specific awards. These scholarships are provided to SC, ST, and minority students for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

 

Central Scheme Scholarships

IIT Patna offers the SC Students' Undergraduate Education Scheme, funded by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, to acknowledge and foster quality education for SC students by providing substantial financial aid. This scholarship is given to candidates who want to pursue studies beyond the 12th grade.

Eligibility Criteria

  • SC students from families with an annual income of up to Rs 6 lakh who have secured admission into a full-time program at recognized institutions are eligible.
  • Eligibility is determined according to the institution's standard selection procedures.
  • The scheme is available to a maximum of two siblings per family. Applicants must submit an affidavit verifying that they are not the third sibling receiving the benefit.
  • The scholarship will be revoked if the student fails any mandatory examination, including final, terminal, or semester exams.

Interested and eligible students must apply online via the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in.

UGC Scheme Scholarship

ISHAN UDAY scholarship program aims to promote equitable access to higher learning for northeast India's youth and to emphasise the importance of professional education within the region.

Institute Scheme Scholarships

IIT Patna also offers Merit-Cum-Means Scholarships to meritorious and financially needy undergraduate students to help them pursue their education. This scholarship is available to both undergraduate students and those enrolled in the 2-year MSc program.

Academic excellence awards and donor scholarships

It includes two scholarships: the Shri Kedar Nath Das Memorial Award and the Shri Jagdish Nath Tripathi Memorial Scholarship. The Shri Kedar Nath Das Memorial Award is given to the top fourth-year undergraduate student in the CSE department, while the Shri Jagdish Nath Tripathi Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the top first-year undergraduate student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department who is admitted through JEE and has a CPI of 8.00 or above in the second semester.
