Educational Qualification:

  1. 1.    Diploma/Certificate Course (minimum one year) in Cookery/Hotel Management and Catering Technology from a recognized University / Food Craft Institute.
  2. 2.    10+2 or equivalent from a CBSE (Council of Board of School Education in India) recognized school / Institute.
  3. 3.    Knowledge of either English/Hindi or both.

Physical Standards: Minimum physical standards will be as applicable to the Soldier (General Duty) category in the Army, depending upon the region of the country. The country is divided into six regions: Western Himalayan Region, Eastern Himalayan Region, Western Plains Region, Eastern Plains Region, Central Region and Southern Region, as per Army rules. Details can be obtained from the nearest HQ Recruiting Zone / Army Recruiting Office / IRO.

Selection Procedure:

Selection process will be a multi-staged process that will include Screening, Physical Fitness Test, required Medical Standards, Written Exam, Interview and final Medical Test. Candidates clearing all the stages would be selected and commissioned as Naib Subedar (Group Y) after completion of Military and Technical Training.

Screening: Screening of candidates will be carried out from 15 January 2013 till 18 January 2013 at Army Supply Corps Centre (South), Bangalore.

Physical Fitness Test: As part of the Physical Fitness Tests, candidates will have to:

(i) run 1.6 kms in maximum 6.20 minutes;

(ii) do at least 6 Pull ups (Beam);

(iii) Qualify the Balance test and 9 Feet Ditch test.

Medical Standard: A candidate applying for the post should have robust physique and mental health, his chest should be well developed having minimum 5 cm expansion, he should have normal hearing with each ear. The candidate should also have sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth, i.e. dental points and should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele, varicose veins or piles.

Written Examination: Candidates selected in the screening will be allowed to appear in the written examination to be conducted at Army Supply Corps Centre (South), Bangalore on 21 January 2013.

The two hour written examination will comprise of one composite question paper of 100 marks.  Minimum passing marks is 40.

Result of the written examination and names of successful candidates shortlisted for interview along with the date and time of interview will be communicated in situ and the list will also be displayed at Army Supply Corps Centre (South), Bangalore on 28 January 2013.

Interview: Candidates for interview, to be held at the Army Supply Corps Centre (South), Bangalore between 29 January 2013 and 30 January 2013, will be shortlisted from those who will clear the written examination.

Those candidates who will qualify the interview and will be placed in the overall merit list will be selected provisionally for the post of JCO- Catering.

Medical Examination: Candidates qualifying in the Interview will be requires to under-go a Medical Examination to be organized at the ASC Centre (S), Bangalore between 31 January 2013 and 05 February 2013. The candidate should be in Med Category SHAPE- I.

Finally selected candidates will be commissioned as Naib Subedar (Group  Y) after completion of Military and Technical Training.

Pay & Allowances:

On completion of training the JCO (Catering) will be placed at the minimum pay scale of Rs. 9300-34800.

They will also be entitled to DA, free accommodation, entitled ration for self, uniform, free medical and leave travel concession for self, family, and dependents, canteen facilities and other allowances as admissible to the regular Army.

How to Apply: 

Interested eligible male candidates can send their applications in the prescribed format along with copies of all relevant certificates to “Army Supply Corps Centre (South), Bangalore” so as to reach the office on or before 17 November 2012.

The envelope containing the application should be super-scribed “APPLICATION FOR JUNIOR COMMISSIONED OFFICER (CATERING)”.

Application forwarded to any other address / HQ Rtg Zone will be rejected.  Candidates are advised to contact the nearest Recruiting Office for further details.

  • Enclose three self addressed stamped Registered envelopes issued by the Department of Post & Telegraph giving your present address with PIN Code on which acknowledgment/call up notice/rejection slip is to be sent.
  • List of recognised universities can be verified from nearest HQ Recruiting Zone / ARO / IRO Delhi Cantt.
  • Individuals with permanent tattoos on any part of the body less inner face of the forearm (inside of elbow to the wrist) and back (dorsal) part of the hand / reverse side of palm are not eligible for recruitment
