Indian School of Mines (ISM) was established in 1926 in Dhanbad and is fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India & a Deemed University since 1967. It invites applicants for admission to programmes mentioned below for the year 2012

Eligibility Criteria for Admission in Indian School of Mines Dhanbad

• Educational Qualification

a)      For MTech Course: BTech/BE or MSc/MScTech degree or equivalent from any recognized University/ Institution

b)      For MPhil Course: MSc/Integrated MSc/ MA in English or equivalent from any  recognized University/Institution

Selection Procedure for Admission in Indian School of Mines Dhanbad

• For MTech Course: Admission shall be on the basis of GATE score through counseling at ISM
• For MPhil Course: Admission shall be on the basis of NET qualification and interview at ISM

Note: For candidates who do not have GATE OR NET score: Admission for them will be on the basis of their performance in the All India Entrance Examination conducted by ISM on 13 May 2012 (Sunday) as per the pattern mentioned below

Pattern of the Written Examination for Admission in Indian School of Mines Dhanbad

• For MTech

a)      Part A (40 marks) Objective Type: There would be 40 questions of one mark each. The questions will be basically on elementary science, elementary engineering and computer science.

b)      Part B (60 marks) Objective Type: There would be 60 questions each of one mark for each discipline and all questions would be compulsory

• For For MPhil (Applied Physics/Applied Chemistry/Applied Mathematics/English): Question paper would contain 50 objective type questions. There will be 20 questions of 1 mark each, 10 questions of 2 marks each and 20 questions of 3 marks each

How to Apply for Admission in Indian School of Mines Dhanbad

Interested and eligible candidates can submit the application form as prescribed on the website www.ismdhanbad.ac.in/admissions  by depositing the fee. One copy of complete application form along with the bank deposit document or demand draft should reach Deputy Registrar (Academic & SW), Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad- 826004 latest by the last date.
