Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research is a Deemed University that was established as an autonomous society on November 14, 1986 and was inaugurated in December 1987 as an advance research institute. IGDIR is fully funded by Reserve Bank of India for carrying out research in developmental issues.
Located in Goregaon, IGIDR started its PhD programme in Development Studies in 1990 and MPhil programmes in 1995. It invites applications from the eligible candidate for the admission to the following PhD/ MPhil Programme.

Eligibility Criteria for admission in Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research 2013
Educational Qualification (for both the courses): Masters degree in any of the following courses Economics/ M.Stat./ MSc (Physics or Mathematics or Environmental Science or Operations Research)/ MBA/ MTech/ ME/ BTech/ BE with at least 55% aggregate marks for Economics discipline and 60% aggregate marks for other disciplines.
In addition, candidates applying for either MPhil or PhD course should have studied mathematics at the higher secondary or higher level.
Selection Procedure for Admission in Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research 2013:
Candidates applying for either of the courses will be selected on the basis of written test followed by an interview. Separate written test will be conducted for MSc and MPhil/ PhD candidates that will be based on general aptitude, analytical ability and mathematical skills at appropriate levels.
Note: MSc students will have the option of answering a section either on Economics or Mathematics at the undergraduate level.
The interview will be conducted for successful candidates in the written test and will be paid Second Class return rail fare by the shortest route from the place of candidate’s residence.
Test Centre for Admission in Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research 2013:
The test will be conducted at the following 14 centres Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Chandigarh, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Thiruvananthapuram.
How to Apply for Admission in Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research 2013:
Candidates can either send application form (in person/ via post), or by downloading application form online and applying online. The Prospectus-cum- application forms can be obtained from the Institute Students’ Office on a working day from 9.15 am to 5.45 pm by paying the application fee. Alternatively, a request may be send by post to the Student Office mentioning the candidate's name, date of birth, gender, address, academic qualifications and choice of test centre. The application fee in the form of Demand Draft must accompany such request.
The application form along with DD should be sent to the Students Office, IGIDR, Gen. A.K. Vaidya Marg, Santosh Nagar, Goregaon (East), Mumbai 400 065 (E-mail: email@example.com).
Application Fee: Application fee for applying for the course is Rs 500 through DD (by hand/ post) and Rs 300 (if paid online). The DD should be drawn from any Nationalized Bank in favour of “Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR)” payable at Mumbai.
