Bhubaneswar, March 20: KIIT Deemed to be University (KIIT-DU) has entered into a partnership with the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce a dual degree program in B.Tech. The agreement was formalized in the presence of Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, marking a milestone in global academic collaboration.
During the event, Dr. Samanta highlighted that this initiative provides KIIT students with an invaluable opportunity to gain international academic exposure, enriching their educational experience. According to KIIT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Saranjit Singh, the program follows a 2+2 model, wherein students will complete two years of study at KIIT and the remaining two years at the University of Tulsa. Upon successful completion, they will receive degrees from both institutions. This initiative aligns with KIIT's broader mission to strengthen its global academic presence.
Beyond the dual degree program, 40 students from various disciplines, such as engineering and liberal studies, will take part in short-term courses at the University of Tulsa during the summer. This initiative is expected to facilitate further academic exchanges, including research collaborations, faculty exchanges, and sabbaticals.
Dr. Vivian Wang, Vice Provost for Global Engagement at the University of Tulsa, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing that it would strengthen Indo-US academic ties. She recalled her visit to KIIT last year and praised its commitment to delivering quality education, particularly to tribal students.
Prof. Singh further noted that the University of Tulsa has a strong track record in student placements, boasting a 100% placement rate, which aligns with KIIT’s success in campus recruitment.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Debashis Bandyopadhyay, Vice-Chancellor of KISS, who underscored the significance of this collaboration for both institutions. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar of KIIT-DU, along with directors, deans, and faculty members from various departments.
