Lateral Entry through JEE MAIN 2014:
A notice has been issued by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for all Polytechnic/Engineering diploma holder applicants who have appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination Main 2014 (JEE Main 2014),for the admission in the undergraduate engineering [Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) and architcture [Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.)] course.
Candidates who have completed Engineering/Architecture/Pharmacy diploma programs from an AICTE approved institute with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category candidates) are eligible for admission to the second year of four-year degree program of Engineering/Pharmacy and five-year Architecture programs through Lateral Entry. These candidates need not appear for any entrance examination.
According to the AICTE, if a diploma level candidate aspires for admission into the first year of four-year degree Engineering/Pharmacy or five-year Architecture program and has a 12th certificate, then the candidate will be eligible on the basis of the Class XII certificate.
Hence, if any Polytechnic/Engineering diploma holder has completed Class XII from a board between the years 2012 and 2014, the candidate needs to update and upload the Class XII result information on the official website of JEE MAIN latest by Thursday, July 3, 2014. If the candidate fails to do the same, it will be assumed that the candidate is only a diploma holder and will not be treated eligible for admission to BE/B Tech/B Arch as per the aforementioned guidelines of AICTE. Candidates who appeared for the JEE Main 2014 need to note that the last date of the facility to verify and confirm board marks has been extended to Thursday, July 3, 2014 (midnight), according to a recent notification from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
