Memorandum of Understanding Signed Between TISS and Andhra Pradesh Government

Andhra Pradesh Government has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) over implementation of programmes and activities of ‘Andhra Pradesh University Students Employability Skill Development Programme’. The programme is a flagship initiative of the State Government which would get support from TISS to implement over the state.

The MoU was signed in presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister of HRD Ganta Srinivas Rao in the event of Teacher’s Day occasion in Visakhapatnam. The Chief Minister while addressing the audience said, “We aim to transform Andhra Pradesh state into a knowledge hub by providing quality education and giving opportunities for students to develop employability skills among the universities and colleges in the state.”

The understanding involves partnerships from various civil society organization, public sector bodies, private sector companies and social entrepreneurs to name a few. These bodies together would complement the efforts of Andhra Pradesh State Knowledge Mission and would help making the state to achieve the mission objectives within a stipulated time frame.

For the implementation of National University Student Skill Development Programme (NUSSD) the Tata Institute of Social Sciences would take effect and implement the mission objectives. It has the objective to enhance employability skills of university students by developing skills among them. The programme by TISS is being implemented across 11 universities around India. In the comprehensive skill development model that has been developed there would be English communication and soft skills, digital and computer skills, analytical skills, financial literacy, legal literacy, entrepreneurship, leadership development and many other self-reliable skills would be present.

The model would further add a model on specialization in specific domain to make the graduate students employable. The programme would be run though Jawahar Knowledge Centers (JKC) across the state and enhance learning capabilities and skill development among the students.
