The Biology syllabus subject of Class 12th mentions all topics in details as well as marks allotment for each unit of the subject. The students choosing to study medicine after Class 12th can select Biology as a main subject of study along with language subject and main subjects for science stream i.e. Physics and Chemistry. The MPBSE Class 12th Biology subject carries 100 marks weightage divided into 75 marks for theory paper and remaining 25 marks for Practical/Viva. Examination Scheme of MP Board Class 12 Biology –
Paper – One
Paper duration – 3 hours
Marks for theory paper – 75 marks
Marks for Internal exams (semester exam) – 25 marks
Total marks for the subject – 100 marks
Class 12th Board Passing Criteria – 33% marks in theory paper as well as practical/viva separately
Unit 1: Multicellularity: Plant Life Structure and Function – This unit carries 20 marks and includes topics around plant life, nutrition in plants, plant reproduction, plant growth etc.
Unit 2: Multicellularity: Animal Life Structure and Function – The unit carries 25 marks for topics including Circulation of Body Fluids, Emissions and Osmoregulation, Neural Coordination and Collector organs, Reproduction and Development of Animals, Growth, Repair and Service.
Unit 3: Continuity of life – The unit covers Heredity and Diversity topic in details and carries weightage of 20 marks from the syllabus.
Unit 4: Economic Importance of Biology and its applications – The unit is aimed to impart knowledge on topics such as human population growth, problems/issues of population and solutions and carries weightage of 10 marks.
