National School of Drama (NSD) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Culture, established in 1959 to meet the growing need for developing a National Theatre in India. It invites application from eligible candidates for 3 year Diploma in Dramatic Arts.
The Diploma in Dramatic Arts has been recognized by the Government of India for the purpose of recruitment to superior posts and services under the Central Government, where specialization in the field of Dramatics is required. It has also been equated with an M.A. Degree in Dramatics by the Association of Indian Universities for appointment as teachers in colleges and universities and for the purpose of registration to Ph.D.

Educational Qualification: Graduate in any subject from a recognised University in India or abroad
Other Essential Qualification
- Participation in at least 6 theatre productions
- Working knowledge of Hindi and English
Age Limit (as on 1 July 2012): Minimum 20 years; Maximum 30 years
Selection Procedure for admission in National School of Drama (NSD): Candidates will be selected by an Expert Committee constituted by the School that will gauge the aspirants on the basis of aptitude and talent through Preliminary test/ audition.
The Preliminary test/ audition will be conducted at 5 centres i.e. Delhi, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Guwahati. Candidates qualifying in this test will have to attend a workshop of 4 to 5 days in the NSD premises for final selection. For this workshop, they will be paid DA and II class train/ bus fare from their place of residence to Delhi and back by the shortest route on submission of ticket/ cash receipt and will also be provided accommodation on a modest sharing basis.
Financial Assistance: All selected students will be given scholarship of Rs 6000 per month to meet their academic and other expenses.
How to Apply for admission in National School of Drama (NSD): Application forms duly filled in and complete in all respects must reach The Academic Department, National School of Drama, Bahawalpur House, Bhagwandas Road, New Delhi- 110001. The envelope containing the application form should be super scribed as ‘Application for Admission 2012- 15'.
Application Fee: Demand Draft/ Pay Order of Rs 225 for all category candidates in favour of The Director, National School of Drama, New Delhi.
