A new science block got introduced by the Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu in Shri Venkateswara College where he laid the foundation stone of the same. The block is expected be built at a cost of Rs. 4.50 crores and would provide additional laboratory facilities along with class rooms and library space for the students and faculties alike.
Naidu, while speaking on the occasion said that the emphasis should be given at the moment to the development and promotion of various institutes with excellence. This would enhance the chances of building a resurgent India with increased scientific temper and excellence in the country.
Giving emphasis to the importance of mother language, Naidu also stressed on making students proficient in their mother tongue by saying, “respect mother, mother tongue and motherland.” He further added that the educational institutes should focus on developing skills among students which are helpful for them to stand on their own feet. It should support the influential scheme of Make in India announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking about the recent incidents of violation of liberties and rights of women in the nation, Naidu said that only making legistation and taking initiative would not solve the problem, instead we need collective social action from the people of the nation.
Presently Shri Venkateswara College has around 3,800 students and 231 teaching and non-teaching staff and it was initiated under the auspices of Tiruamala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in 1961. It was started with mere 272 students and 13 staff members and had grown substantially ever since. P-[p
