No. of seats increased in the newly proposed IIMs for MBA Admissions
6 new IIMs were anounced in the proposed budget this year. It has been now anounced that no. of seats available for MBA Admissions will be increased to 140 from the earlier number of 60.
6 new IIMs were anounced in the proposed budget this year. It has been now anounced that no. of seats available for MBA Admissions will be increased to 140 from the earlier number of 60. It is a huge development and a happy feat for MBA Aspirants. Now MBA Aspirants will have more seats and thus more students can fulfill their dreams of studying Business Management at IIMs.
This proposal was approved in the Cabinet meeting held on 24th June 2015. In addition to this, the cities to establish these IIMs have been finalized in the meeting. The proposed 6 new IIMs will be located at Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bodh Gaya (Bihar), Sirmaur (Himachal Pradesh), Nagpur (Maharashtra), Sambalpur (Odisha) and Amritsar (Punjab).
It has been planned that till their designated campuses will not be ready, these IIMs will be operating from currently assigned temporary campuses. It is being tried that all these 6 new IIMs commence their first academic session from 2015-16.
It is expected that the annual intake will increase to 560 students each year by the end of 7 years.
The PGP in Management would be the flagship programme of these institutions. Admission to the PGP 2015-17 batch will be through the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs every year.
CAT 2015 is being conducted by IIM Ahmedabad.
