Regional Language Test in Dena Bank for Recruitment of Clerk 2012

Dena Bank nationalized in the year 1969 is one of the oldest bank in India. It notified recruitment of Clerical personnel for 1090 vacant post from 16 April 2012.

Selection for the post of Clerk will be based on the Total Weighted Standard Score in the Common Written Examination conducted by IBPS in 2011 and marks scored in the Interview (100 marks). Candidates who rank sufficiently high in the order of merit based on the Total Weighted Standard Score shall be called for a personal interview in the ratio of 1:4 for General category and 1:5 for reserved category.

The minimum qualifying marks for the interview would be 40% for General Category and 35% for Reserved Category.

Since Clerical Cadre recruitment would be on State/ UT wise basis, it will therefore be necessary that candidates apply for vacancies of a State/ UT from which they have appeared for the CWE and in which they have qualified.

Dena Bank is the first one amongst the 19 Public Sector Banks participating in Clerical Recruitment through IBPS which require candidates to write a passage/ essay in Regional language at the time of interview to ascertain the knowledge of Regional language of the candidates.

Candidates should be able to read, write and speak the Regional language of the State/ UT for which vacancies are advertised and for which he/ she desires to apply.

Tips to Prepare for Regional Language

Candidates preparing for National Level Competitive exam are used to preparing and practising for their entrance/competitive exams in English Language. In this case it is therefore advisable that candidates preparing for Dena Bank interview start reading regional language paper so that they have a fairly good command on the regional language. Reading regional language papers/magazines will at time of the test help the candidates to express their point of view better.

Also candidates should practice writing articles in simple, effective, and expressive way on current affairs in their regional language. Writing in regional language will enable them to be fluent in the projection of ideas in their regional language.

Reading and writing in regional language will equip the candidates with good stock of word which will come in handy at the time of taking the test.

Candidates can initially take help from English to Regional Language Translation Book or a book having translations from any regional language to English (Tamil to English and so on).
