Candidates shortlisted from CBT 1 appear for CBT 2, which consists of two parts — Part A and Part B.

RRB ALP CBAT Exam Pattern 2025

The CBAT is applicable only for ALP posts. Candidates eight times the number of vacancies are called based on their performance in CBT 2 Part A (and subject to qualifying Part B). CBAT is qualifying in nature and tests the candidates' aptitude relevant to the ALP role.

  • There is no negative marking in the CBAT stage.
  • Candidates must secure a minimum of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify.
  • The questions are available in both English and Hindi.
  • The final merit is calculated by giving 70% weightage to CBT 2 Part A and 30% weightage to CBAT.

RRB ALP 2025 Qualifying Marks

To move forward in each stage of the RRB ALP 2025 selection process, candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks as prescribed by the Railway Recruitment Board. These marks vary by category.

  • General (UR) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) candidates must score at least 40% to qualify.
  • Other Backward Classes – Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) candidates must secure a minimum of 30% marks.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) category candidates are required to score 30% or more.
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates must obtain at least 25% marks.

RRB ALP Provisional Allotment Process

The final selection of candidates for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) is done based on merit and qualification in each stage of the recruitment process. Only those meeting all requirements are provisionally allotted the post.

  • Performance in CBT 2 (Part A): Marks obtained in Part A are considered for shortlisting candidates for further stages and play a significant role in the final merit.
  • Qualification in Part B (mandatory): Part B is qualifying in nature; candidates must secure the minimum required marks to proceed in the recruitment process.
  • CBAT performance (for ALP posts): For ALP posts, CBAT performance is critical as it contributes 30% weightage in the final merit calculation.
  • Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates are called for verification of original documents to confirm their eligibility and authenticity.
  • Medical Fitness Test by Railway Administration: Candidates must be medically fit as per the standards set by the Railway Administration for the post of ALP.
  • Verification of certificates and character/antecedents: Final appointment is subject to satisfactory background verification and scrutiny of educational, caste, and other relevant certificates.

Candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for document verification before final appointment.
