Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is ready to conduct the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination, 2014. (Read more notification). The written examination will be conducted on two consecutive dates- 02 November 2014 and 09 November 2014. (Know about important dates). The exam is conducted for the post of Data Entry Operators and Lower Divisional Clerk at various departments. The examinations on the prescribed date will be held at various centers across the nation. The eligible and interested candidates can still apply online before 19 August 2014 (Information on eligibility criteria).

The written examination comprises of four subjects – General Intelligence, English language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness.  Each section comprises of 50 questions, each question carrying one mark. (Read more for Exam Pattern)

General Intelligence

General Intelligence section is also known as the reasoning section. It is a tough section and the need for mental alertness while answering this section should be high. The subject includes different topics such as analogy, syllogism, coding/decoding, classification and so on. The candidates who will be appearing for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (10+2) Examination should have immense logical skill so that they can do well in the examination. For better performance in the examination, candidates need to understand the type of questions and do the reasoning well with logic. To expertise in this section it is advisable that candidates should practice model test papers and also should go through the previous year exam papers for better reference.

English language

English language is a section that is entirely based on grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension. It is one of the interesting sections in the examination. Those candidates having a good grip over English language can easily cope up with the subject. The questions include fill in the blanks, synonyms, active/passive, comprehension passage and so on. A stock of good vocabulary can be helpful for candidates to perform well in this category. Reading story books, newspapers and various magazines can be helpful for a candidate to improve your language part.

Quantitative Aptitude

Quantitative Aptitude section is the mathematical section in which candidates have to encounter questions on arithmetic, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, and statistics. Candidates should make it a habit to practice the model question papers on daily basis and should also go through previous year question papers to increase their knowledge and power of calculations. To succeed in this section of the examination, candidates should increase their speed.

General Awareness

This section if divided into two parts-general knowledge and current affairs. Reading daily newspapers and keeping a track on the day to day whereabouts of the environment can help you to know about the latest happenings around you. General Awareness can be said to be one of the most scoring section that can be easily concluded with a bit of knowledge and good level of intelligence. The questions are constructed in a way to test the knowledge of a candidate on the current happenings that are taking place around. The general knowledge part includes History, Culture, Geography, General policy etc.

Just a general reminder, the examination carries negative marking for each wrong answer, so candidates should be careful while answering the questions.
