  • Prepare ahead of time: Since almost three months are left for ARS examination (prelims), prepare a proper time table and stick to that throughout the preparation. Chart out time for regular study, exercise, and break on time to gain confidence and overcome all obstructions in the way of success in examination.
  • Systematic and Organized Approach: A thorough study of the syllabus is the right step to start your preparation. Look for the chapters which needs more preparation time and which require less. Devote time accordingly for each topic to be covered within the two and a half month time span.
  • Be Focused and Selective: Study the syllabus to find out from which topic multiple choice questions, short answer questions and essay questions can be set by the examiner. As preliminary examination is the initial step to reach the next level and it is of objective nature. Therefore, try to focus more on topics from where MCQs can be asked.
  • Make Notes: While studying make brief notes of important formulae, figures and other significant points covering the topic or chapters. It is advisable that you use tools like highlighters to give a word an emphasis as it help you remember things that are catalogued and will also help in the last hours of revision. On that day, you shall not have time to revise the whole syllabus; just going through these notes will enable you to remember all relevant points.
  • Practice Sample Papers: The best way to measure your test skills is by practicing previous years sample papers. It will facilitate you to improve your speed in multiple choice questions to be asked in Prelims/ NET Exam and enhance your writing skills for short answer questions and essay type questions that will be set in the Mains exam paper.
  • Healthy Diet and Proper Sleep: Both diet and sleep of atleast 7 hours is required for a healthy mind to function. A sleep- deprived body will not be able to retain information and you might panic while writing exam. Similarly you should avoid caffeine as much as possible and instead have fruits, vegetables etc that will keep your brain charged.
