Minimum: 18 years
Maximum: No age limit for SC/SC (A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC/BCM and Destitute Widows of all Castes
‘Others’ should not have completed 30 Years.
[Persons holding a Post Graduate or Higher Degree in Horticulture such as M.Sc. (Horticulture) or Ph.D. in Horticulture should not have completed 32 Years.]

Note: ‘Others’ (Candidates not belonging to SC/SC (A)/ST/MBC/DC/BC/BCM categories) who have put in five years of service in the State / Central Government are not eligible even if they are within the age limit.

Educational Qualification (as on 06.12.2012)

For Assistant Section Officer (Tamil)
Degree with Tamil as one part in the Degree Course or equivalent from a UGC recognized University / Institution.

For Assistant Section Officer (Telugu)
Degree with Telugu as one part in the Degree Course or equivalent from a UGC recognized University / Institution.

For Assistant Section Officer (Malayalam)
Degree with Malayalam as one part in the Degree Course or equivalent from a UGC recognized University / Institution.

For Assistant Section Officer (Hindi)
Degree with Hindi as one part in the Degree Course or equivalent from a UGC recognized University / Institution.

Note: Basic / Adequate Knowledge of Tamil is essential for all posts.

The 20% reservation of vacancies on preferential allotment to Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) will apply for this recruitment.  

Certificate Of Physical Fitness: Candidates selected for appointment to the post will be required to produce a certificate of physical fitness prescribed for Executive post.
Standard of Vision: Standard-III or Better

Note: Candidates with defective vision should produce Eye Fitness Certificate from qualified Eye Specialist.
No reservation is provided for “Differently Abled Persons,” “Destitute Widows” and “Ex-Servicemen.”

Selection Procedure:  
Selection will be done in two successive stages:
(i) Written Examination   
(ii) Interview

The 340 marks examination (300 marks for written test + 40 marks for interview & records) will be of 3 hrs.
Minimum Qualifying Marks for selection for SCs, SC(A)s,  STs, MBCs/ DCs, BCs and BCMs will be 102 and for others 136 marks. The examination syllabus is available on the Commission’s Website http://www.tnpsc.gov.in.

Written Examination Pattern: There will be one paper of Degree Standard in which candidates would be required to translate a given piece of work from one language to another and write a Precis.

2. Precis Writing in Hindi

Examination Centre: Examination will be held at Chennai Centre only. The candidate has to appear for the examination where he has been allotted to the examination. Change of centre or venue is not permitted. Candidate would be required to carry the Hall Ticket (Admission Card) at the examination venue. They will be admitted to the examination till 30 minutes from the commencement of the examination. They will be required to sign the attendance sheet and affix thumb impression for verification of identity.
Note: The Commission reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of examination centres and to re-allot the candidates.

Examination Fees: A non-refundable fee of Rs.150. (Rs. 50 Cost of Application + Rs.100 Examination fee) has to be paid either by online mode (through Net Banking, Credit card/Debit card) or by offline mode (Post Office or Indian Bank). In addition, candidates will have to pay the service charges applicable to the Bank /Post Office /Fee Processing Agency.
Candidates claiming exemption from examination fee should pay Rs.50 towards Application cost. (No exemption for cost of application)
Besides, a one-time Registration fee of Rs.50 has to be paid by unregistered candidates. The registration shall be valid for a period of Five years from the date of one time registration.
Those who have registered in the one-time registration system and received the registration ID need not pay the application fee for a period of 5 years from the date of registration even if he/she applies for any other posts, subsequently notified by the Commission. But those candidates shall pay examination fee if applicable.

1) Online Payment (Net Banking, Credit card/Debit card): Candidates who wish to pay fees through the online payment gateway should visit the additional online fee payment page of the application form and fill in the requisite details to make payment and submit it.  On successful Completion of the online transaction, a Registration Number and Password will be generated. Candidates should note  the Application Number and Password for future reference in respect of the post applied for.
After submitting the payment information in the online application form, candidates should wait for the intimation from the server. DO NOT press Back or Refresh button in order to avoid double charge.

NOTE: No modification in fee payment details will be permitted for candidates who pay fees/ intimation charges through the online mode.

2) Offline Payment (Post Office / Indian Bank): For offline mode of payment, candidates should fill in the online application form -- select Post Office / Indian Bank in the fee details options -- and submit it. On successful submission of the form, system would generate along with Application Number and password, a fee payment challan. Candidates are required to note down the Application Number and password and take a print out of the challan, visit the nearest branch of Indian bank / the Designated Post Office and make the payment. After depositing the fee, candidate should collect the candidate’s copy of the fee payment challan bearing details of Transaction Number, Branch Name DP Code Number and Deposit Date and retain it for future use.
Please check that the challan is properly signed by the Branch authorities. [Online Application Registration will be taken as successful one, only if the payment is made either in the post office or in the Indian Bank within two working days from the date of registration/submission of application].  

How to Apply:
Candidates have to apply only through online via the Commission’s Website http:// www.tnpsc.gov.in Candidates should carefully fill in the online Application form along with uploading their photograph and signature as the online application is incomplete without the photograph and signature upload. They are advised to verify all the details filled in the application form before submitting it.  
There is a provision to modify the submitted Online Application. Candidates are requested to make use of this facility to correct their details in the Online Application, if any, till last date of submission. Request for change/correction in the Application Form will not be allowed after the last date specified for applying online.
On successful submission of the application, an Application Number and password is generated. Candidates can print /save it in PDF format. Candidates can download their application and print it, at any time by entering the Application Number and password. Candidates need not send the printout of the online application or any other supporting documents to the Commission. The certificates will be verified only when the candidates come up for next stage of selection.
Candidates should have a valid e-mail ID /Mobile Number as TNPSC will send Hall Tickets (Memorandum of Admission) for Main Examination in Computer Based Test Format, Interview Call Letters, other Memos etc. over mail only / intimation through SMS.
The Hall Tickets for eligible candidates can be downloaded from the Commission’s Website http://www.tnpsc.gov.in. No Hall Tickets will be sent by post.
