The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have released the preliminary registration data for the common admission test or CAT 2011. 2.06 lakh vouchers were sold till October 1 while about 2.05 lakh CAT aspirants registered till October 4, the last day of registration.
About 2.04 lakh students had registered for CAT last year. Of the total, 27% are woman candidates this year and the highest number of candidates will be taking the test in cities like New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad.
Janakiraman Moorthy, convenor, CAT 2011, said, "The marginal increase in the number of registrations this year is a sign that management is still a sought after career choice by young Indians."
