UPSC has released official notification for Engineering Services Exam / ESE 2017. The examination is held to recruit candidates to the Services/ Posts under civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering disciplines.
Union Public Service Commission / UPSC will accept applications for Engineering Services Exam / ESE 2017 till 26 October. Online application portal will be open till 1800 hours on the last date. A total number of 440 vacancies have been notified till now.
Strict selection process will be implemented for ESE 2017 by the UPSC. Preliminary/Stage‐I Examination of the Engineering Services Examination will be held on 08 January 2017. The preliminary stage of ESE 2017 will be conducted at 42 centres across the country. Candidates should note that centres and the date of holding the examination as mentioned above are liable to be changed at the discretion of the Commission and may differ from the preference given in the application.
Candidates finally recommended by UPSC on the basis of Engineering Services Examination, 2017 shall be required to undergo medical examination.
Eligibility Criteria for UPSC ESE 2017
Candidates need to have prescribed educational qualification prescribed by UPSC for Engineering Services Exam 2017.
Candidates must have Degree in Engineering or passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India) or obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from such foreign University/College/Institution and under such conditions as may be recognised by the Government for the purpose from time to time or passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India) or passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India or passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London held after November, 1959.
Candidates awaiting the result can also apply for UPSC ESE 2017.
In exceptional cases, the Commission may treat a candidate, who has not any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule, as educationally qualified provided that he/she has passed examinations conducted by other institutions the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission justifies his/her admission to the examination.
Candidate must be in the age group of 21-30 years. The Commission allows age relaxation to candidates of different reserved categories.

Application process for UPSC ESE 2017
Candidates are required to submit their application at the official portal of the Commission. Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST/ PH) are required to pay a fee of Rs 200 either by depositing the money in any Branch of SBI by cash or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ State Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala/ State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit card.
Candidates should note that UPSC suggests for only single application. However, if due to any unavoidable situation multiple applications are submitted, then the one with higher RID / Registration ID complete in all respects like applicants' details, examination centre, photograph, signature, fee etc. will be accepted.
