WBJEE is a state level entrance examination which is used to give admission to the Undergraduate Level Engineering and Medical courses in the state of West Bengal. A vast number of students from West Bengal and other states take this exam. Cracking this exam is not very tough as the question paper is relatively easier than JEE Main.

In this article we will talk about tips and tricks that will help you in cracking this exam in first attempt.

1. Know the Syllabus:

Knowing Syllabus of any competitive examination is very important for any aspirant because it helps him to figure out what to read and what to leave. This is the first step toward preparation of any competitive examination. WBJEE Engineering Exam consists of three papers- Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

WBJEE 2019 Mathematics Paper

This paper covers the syllabus of Class XI and XII Mathematics books. The difficulty level of this section varies from easy to moderate and it had more easy questions than difficult ones. This paper consists of total 80 questions and more than 50 questions with 85% accuracy can be considered as safe score.

WBJEE 2019 Physics Paper

Again the difficulty level of this paper varies from easy to moderate. This paper has mixture of easy and moderate questions. This paper consists of 40 questions. 25 plus attempts with 80 % accuracy can be considered as decent attempt.

This difficulty level of this paper also varies from easy to moderate. Like Physics paper this section too consists of 40 questions and 25+ questions with 80% questions can be considered as decent score.

2. Know the format of Examination:

Knowing format of examination helps the students to make strategies. For example if you know whether there is negative marking in paper or not then, it becomes easy on your part to decide whether to make guesses or not. Also, if a particular section or paper in the examination weighs more, then you can focus more on that paper.

Q – Number of Questions, M-Marks.

Each paper is divided into three categories. The marking scheme of each category is as below.

1. One mark is awarded for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer.

1. More than one answer option may or may not be correct. It means full marks are awarded if you mark all the right answers.

2. No negative marking for incorrect answers. For any combination of answers containing one or more wrong answer options, no marks will be deducted.

3. For partially correct responses, without any negative marking, the following formula is applied to award marks: 2 X (no. of correct responses) / (total no. of correct options).

3. Solve at least last 5 Years’ Question Papers of WBJEE:

Practicing previous years’ question papers is one of the success mantras of many successful students. To do well in any competitive examination previous years’ papers are ultimate tools. While practicing you may run out of new type of questions this is the place where Previous Years’ question papers comes in. Treat previous years’ papers as your examination paper and attempt questions in time. It will give you a lot of benefits; it will help you in your time management and boost your confidence.

4. Solve as many Sample Papers as you can:

Practice as many sample papers as you can. After you have solved last five years’ question paper you need to work on new pattern of examination. Sample papers are based on new patterns.  They give you exposure to new questions and help you in aligning with the new format of exam.

After attempting sample paper you will come to know your weakness and strengths which you can rectify timely. Many a times you make silly mistakes in calculations and your whole question goes wrong. Practicing sample paper will help you in recognizing your mistake and opportunity to work on that.

5. Revise key Concepts before Examination:

It is a must do activity before exam. If the topics that you read a month or two month before exam are not revised then they are useless. While going through topics always make notes and write down important formulae. It is advised not to read new topics a day before your examination. Give your complete time on revision.

6. Stay Motivated:

Staying motivated is a difficult task. Many a times it occur that while solving sample papers you are not able to solve a particular problem even after spending more than the required time on that question or you could not attempt sufficient question in the paper. In such situations you feel tensed and depressed.

Whenever you feel that you are trapped in a question, leave that and attempt it again after some time. In last if you could not solve see the solution and check where did you make mistake. If you feel like dropping the subject remind yourself that ‘You Can Do It!’ Remember self motivation is very important.
