What is the Eligibility Criteria for CAT 2013 ?

IIMs have anounced the dates for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2013. Registrations will begin from 5 August 2013. Check whether you are eligible for the examination or not.

IIMs have anounced the opening of CAT 2013 registrations. Registrations for CAT 2013 will begin from 5 August 2013 and will remain open till 26 September 2013.

Every year, one of the IIMs conduct Common Admission Test (CAT) for admissions to MBA Programs. CAT score is not only considered by IIMs but also by many other prestigious institutes of the country.

Lakhs of aspirants sit in this highly sought after MBA Entrance Examination. CAT is seen as one of the toughest examination for selection in MBA Courses. A good percentile can help one getting an entry in the college of your choice. Since, there are plenty of aspirants for CAT, it is very important to check on the Eligibility Criteria of CAT Examination.

Eligibility Criteria for the CAT Examination:

As per the details provided by IIMs candidates should have the following qualifications:

The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA [45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) or Persons with Disability (PWD) category)], awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally.

List of Equivalent Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./PostDiploma ) or B.E/B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil EngineersIndia).
  2. Any Qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities New Delhi which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by UGC recognized University/Institutions.
  3. Cases not covered above equivalency certificate to be produced  from Association of Indian Universities New Delhi.
