Egyptian Court has sentenced to 529 supporters of ousted Islamist President, Mohammed Morsi to death. Those who have been sentenced for the capital punishment were convicted of charges like murdering a policeman and attacks on people and property of the country.
The group that has been sentenced include top Muslim Brotherhood member. Most of these supporters were arrested during the clash that erupted in the southern province of Minya after the forced removal of Mohammed Morsi.
Background
Since removal of Morsi by the Military in July 2013, the authorities have cracked down harshly on the Islamists. Actions of the authority after Morsi was ousted include killing of hundreds and arrest of thousands.
