The 3-Cities Fame India Eco Drive is a public awareness campaign to promote electrification of automobile transportation.
Union Cabinet Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Anant Geete on 26 November 2015 flagged off the 3-Cities Fame India Eco Drive from Red Fort, New Delhi.
The 3-Cities Fame India Eco Drive is a public awareness campaign to promote electrification of automobile transportation to achieve objectives of the National Mission for Electric Mobility (NMEM).
Highlights of 3 Cities Fame India Eco Drive
• The drive aimed to promote conservation of energy and environmental benefits under the ambitious national scheme on Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid & Electric Vehicles (FAME) India.
• The first leg of the drive included 46 hybrid and electric vehicles from different automobile manufacturers that were driven on the roads of Delhi.
• The fleet of the vehicles included two wheelers, cars and buses.
• The rally culminated at Gurgaon (Haryana).
Other cities, apart from Delhi, that will be covered as part of this drive are Jaipur and Chandigarh. In Jaipur, this drive will be held on 30 November 2015 and in Chandigarh it will be held on 7 December 2015.
The drive is part of the FAME India Scheme that was launched on 2 April 2015 with an outlay of 795 crore rupees under the National Electricity Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) 2020.
About NEMMP 2020
NEMMP was launched in 2013 with an ambitious target of achieve 6-7 million sales of hybrid and electric vehicles year on year from 2020 onwards. With the support from the Government, the cumulative sale is expected to reach 15-16 Million by 2020.
