Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs Pralhad Joshi introduced "Anna Chakra," a revolutionary Public Distribution System (PDS) supply chain optimization technology, on Thursday.
The system is seen as an important step in upgrading the subsidy claim procedures and Public Distribution System (PDS) in India.
Anna Chakra: A Revolution in Public Distribution
The Anna Chakra system, which was created in collaboration with IIT-Delhi and the World Food Programme, uses cutting-edge algorithms to maximize the flow of food grains throughout the nation's transportation network, according to an official statement.
Aim to Help 81 Crore Beneficiaries
Aiming to serve 81 crore beneficiaries of the nation's food security program, the initiative encompasses 6,700 warehouses and 4.37 lakh Fair Price Shops.
According to preliminary estimates conducted in 30 states, a reduction of Rs 58 crore in quantity-kilometer metrics would result in an annual cost savings of Rs 250 crore.
The technology represents a major technological advancement as it combines with the PM Gati Shakti platform and the Railways' Freight Operations Information System.
Launch of SCAN Portal
Joshi simultaneously introduced the SCAN site, which promises simplified workflow automation and serves as a single-window system for states to submit and handle food subsidy claims.
It is anticipated that the optimization will lower carbon emissions and transportation expenses, underscoring the government's twin emphasis on environmental sustainability and economic efficiency.
