India’s Sushil Kumar won his first-ever gold medal in the Asian wrestling championship held at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex wrestling stadium, New Delhi on 13 May 2010. He defeated Dae Sung Kim of Korea to win the medal. India won 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medal. China led the medal count by winning a total of 13 medals (5 gold, 3 silver and 5 bronze). Asian wrestling championship was held from 12 to 16 May 2010 in the Indira Gandhi Arena, New Delhi.
Asian Wrestling Championships is organized by the Asian Associated Wrestling Committee (AAWC). The men's tournament began in 1979 and the women's tournament is being staged since 1996.
