Australia and New Zealand, on 8 April 2011 discussed energy-efficiency cooperation for households and businesses. Bothe nations said in a joint statement that the labels would make it easier for shoppers to detect which appliances would lead to the biggest savings on their gas and electricity bills. If they switch to more energy-efficient white goods and electrical appliances, they would save serious money on their energy bills.
According to an estimate, in 2009-10 alone, consumers in New Zealand saved 123 million US dollars in energy costs.
