German auto maker BMW launched its entry-level SUV, the X1, on 23 December 2010 in the Indian market. The entry-level SUV from the BMW stable is priced a competitive Rs 22 lakh onwards. X1, the cheapest model from the auto maker will be available with 2-litre petrol and diesel engines. The compact SUV from the German maker's stable will compete with models like Honda CR-V, Hyundai's Santa Fe and Toyota's Fortuner, among others. A number of SUVs from reputed auto makers were launched in India in 2010. The new launches include Yeti, Santa Fe and Aria with companies confident on continued high growth in the segment.
