Campaign to get Delhi a status of World Heritage City started on 12 September 2012 after Government of Delhi approved the campaign by the Indian National Trust for Art & Cultural Heritage. The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) is ready with a dossier titled Imperial Town Planning Traditions of Delhi that will be submitted to UNESCO.

Convenor A. G. K. Menon of the Delhi Chapter of INTACH asked the Delhi Tourism & Transportation Development Corporation to sign an agreement with the body and assist them to fund the final dossier being drafted. The movie available with them is evidence towards governments’ intention for protecting Delhi’s Heritage.

This tag will be offered to Delhi by 2014. The prepared dossier is aimed at promoting Shahjahanabad and Interior New Delhi (Lutyens’ Delhi) as the Heritage Sites.
