Centum WorkSkills India on 21 December 2010 announced that it signed a MoU with Adecco India with the purpose of creating placement opportunities in organised and unorganised sectors. Centrum will provide employability solution while Adecco plans to provide placement opportunities to the trained and certified youth in sectors such as automobile, retail, telecom, building and construction, hospitality and healthcare.
The company estimated that 12 to 15 million people in India move from unorganised workforce to organised industry on an annualised basis. India’s young workforce of 240 million between the age group of 20 to 28 is expected to be a big differentiator for 8.5 per cent plus economic growth in the future. Urbanisation and the projected $1 trillion spend on infrastructure envisaged in the next Five-Year Plan will multiply job opportunities and hence the PPP drive for skill development as part of the public policy will be a key driver for employability.
