Jul 23, 2014 18:25 IST

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J Jayalalithaa on 23 July 2014 announced that the process of issuing licenses to the new industries will be done online henceforth. The step was taken in order to simplify the process involved for registration of new industries in the state.

J Jayalalithaa explained that the difficulties which were faced while issuing the licenses will be tackled through the web portal; which will also facilitate information about the government services apart from other things.

Key Highlights of the New Portal

  • The new portal, apart from issuing the industrial licenses, will also help the general public and industrialists in finding out about new government schemes.
  • The portal will be developed at the cost of 2.24 crore rupees

It is important to note that according to the Industries Act, 1948, it is obligatory for the industry to get registration and the license from State Government. There are more than 42000 industries that are registered and have also received licenses under the Government of Tamil Nadu.
