1. (a) Arun Jaitley

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on 29 November 2017 officially launched the 'Paytm Payments Bank', India's largest digital wallet firm. Paytm Payments Bank aims to bring Indians into 'digital economy'. With the launch of the Bank, Paytm account holders can enjoy the benefits like zero-balance account, free IMPS, NEFT, RTGS, UPI transactions and a complimentary virtual Rupay cards for online transactions.

2. (b) Manipur
Mirabai Chanu from Manipur has become the first Indian in over two decades to claim a gold medal at the International Weightlifting Federation World Weightlifting Championship (IWFWWC) in Anaheim, USA on 30 November 2017.

3. (c) Dia Mirza
Actor-activist Dia Mirza was appointed as UN (United Nations) Environment’s Goodwill Ambassador for India. As a Goodwill Ambassador, she will work with the UN to further spread the message on priority areas including clean air, clean seas, wildlife protection and climate change.

4. (d) Billdesk
India’s first crypto-currency exchange “Coinome” has been launched by Mumbai-based payment gateway Billdesk. Coinome is incorporated under Hatio Innovations Pvt. Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of BillDesk. It will allow users to be on-boarded via Instant e-KYC. It means that users can start transacting in crypto-currencies almost immediately upon registering.

5. (a) World AIDS Day
The World AIDS Day was observed across the world on 1 December 2017 with the theme 'My health, my right'. This year, the United Nations also launched a campaign #myrighttohealth with the main focus on the right to health. The campaign along with this year's theme aims spread awareness about 'Right To Health' of everyone, everywhere. And, right to health is linked to a wider set of rights.

6. (b) World Health Organization
The World Health Organisation formulated clinical guidelines on responding to children and adolescents who have been sexually abused. The guidelines put forward recommendations for the frontline health care providers who may directly receive a victim of sexual abuse or may identify sexual abuse during the course of diagnosis and treatment

7. (b) Brundaban Tripathy
Prominent Gandhian and freedom fighter Saraswati Tripathy passed away on 30 November 2017 due to old age related ailments. She was 89. She was the wife of late freedom fighter Brundaban Tripathy. She had met Mahatma Gandhi at Beraboi Ashram in Puri district and joined the freedom struggle.

8. (a) Brazil
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the signing and ratification of the Investment Cooperation and Facilitation Treaty (ICFT) between India and Brazil.The Treaty will result in increase of investment flows between the two countries.

9. (a) New Delhi
The 7th edition of the three-day ‘Kathakar - International Storytellers Festival’ was inaugurated by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi on 1 December 2017. The festival is the only oral storytelling festival in India and is a part of Ghummakkad Narain- the Travelling Literature Festival which was started under the aegis of UNESCO in 2010.

10. (d) UK
The 14-day long Combined Military exercise ‘Ajeya Warrior- 2017’ between India and the UK began near Bikaner, Rajasthan on 1 December 2017. The objective of the exercise is to increase mutual cooperation and coordination between the two countries. Both armies will learn and share from each other's experiences.

11. (c) Italy
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and Italy for cooperation in Agriculture and Phytosanitary issues. It replaces the earlier MoU signed in January, 2008 which is going to expire in January, 2018.

12. (c) Ravichandran Ashwin
The Inaugural edition of the Indian Sports Honours, which was held in Mumbai, saw Ravichandran Ashwin, who recently achieved the feat of becoming the fastest bowler to reach 'Club 300' in Test cricket, grab the Sportsman of the Year award. The women's cricket team captain Mithali Raj was awarded the Sportswoman of the Year award.
