Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2024 in New Delhi. During the program, PM Modi also inaugurated the 8th edition of India Mobile Congress. India Mobile Congress is Asia's largest digital technology platform.

2. (b) L&T Shipyard

Indian Navy's new multi-purpose vessel (MPV) 'Samarthak' has been built by L&T Shipyard. The ship was built under indigenous construction at Kattupalli Shipyard, in line with the Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India initiatives. Its launch is an important step towards enhancing the maritime capabilities of the Indian Navy.

3. (d) Indian Coast Guard

Recently, the Central Government has appointed S Parameshwar as the new chief of the Indian Coast Guard. Parmesh will take charge after the demise of former DG Rakesh Pal. With over three decades of service, Parmesh has held several key appointments including Deputy Director General (Operations & Coastal Security) and command of major ICG ships.

Recently Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis has been selected as the ICC Player of the Month for September. Mendis became the first male player in history to pass fifty in each of the first eight matches of his Test career. Meanwhile, England's Tammy Beaumont was awarded the Best Female Player award for September.

National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah will take oath as the new Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on October 16. The new government has been formed following the removal of President's rule in Jammu and Kashmir, which was in force since the reorganization of the former state in 2019.

Recently Partha Pratim Sengupta has been appointed as the MD and CEO of Bandhan Bank. RBI has approved Partha Pratim Sengupta as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO) of Bandhan Bank for a period of three years. He replaced founding MD and CEO Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, who resigned on July 9, 2024.
