Bachhrawan railway station: Two coaches of Dehradun-Varanasi Janta Express derailed
Dehradun-Varanasi Janta Express on 20 March 2015 derailed at Bachhrawan railway station near Raebareli district of Uttar Pradesh in which at least 36 people were killed and over 150 were injured.
Brake failure was reported to be the cause of the accident.
Due to derailment, two coaches and the engine of the train were affected. The train was on its way to Varanasi when the derailment took place.
An ex gratia of 2 lakh rupees each for the next of kin of the deceased and 50000 rupees to the severely injured and 20000 rupees for those with minor injuries was announced. The railways ordered a probe into the accident.
