Delhi on 1 May 2014 received its first Dolby Atmos audio technology, in its one of the oldest Cinema, named Delite Cinemas. It had upgraded its audio technology. Delite Cinemas is a single screen theatre and also the first in northern India to have the technology.
The up gradation of the audio technology of the Delite cinemas was announced by Dolby Laboratories.
Dolby Atmos is a positional sound system, with many more audio channels that helps in creating a more life-like sound experience. It will create realistic and natural sound experiences that envelop and involve you in the stories.
Dolby Atmos was introduced by the Dolby Laboratories in April 2012. The first theatre to use Dolby Atmos technology in India was Sathyam multiplex in Chennai. Other cinemas using it include PVR Juhu in Mumbai.
Some of the Atoms technology featured movies are Brave, The Life of Pi, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Dhoom 3, Madras Cafe and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.
