The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on 17 September 2013 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) to construct solar power projects on premises of the Delhi Metro. The production of solar power will help DMRC partially fulfill its energy requirements as well as reduce carbon footprints.
As per the MoU, the DMRC and SECI will collaborate for the development of solar projects which includes ground, rooftop and other possible mountings of solar panels at identified DMRC sites.
SECI is a not-for-profit company under the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, whose objective is to develop Solar Technologies and solar power plants across the country.
