The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully launched the first test flight of its Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM). The announcement of this success came from the Ministry of Defence on October 12.
The initial flight was launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, located off the coast of Odisha. The missile was fired from a mobile launcher.
DRDO’s Successful Launch of LRLACM Missile
The launch of the long-range missile proved to be a success as per the Ministry of Defense. All subsystems met the main mission goals and operated as expected during the test. According to the Ministry of Defence, ITR placed a number of range sensors, including radar, an electro-optical tracking system, and telemetry, at various points to monitor the missile's performance and guarantee full coverage of the flight path.
LRLACM Missile is Developed by
The LRLACM was developed by the Aeronautical Development Establishment of DRDO in Bengaluru, which is the outcome of cooperation between several DRDO labs and Indian businesses.
The Development-Cum-Production Partners were Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) in Bengaluru and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) in Hyderabad.
