Election Commission of Maldives on 21October 2013 announced that the postponed Presidential elections will be now be held on 9 November 2013. The second round face-off, if needed, will be held on 16 November 2013. The term of the present government ends on 11 November 2013. The first round of voting, in September, was annulled by the court. Nasheed had gained 45 percent of votes in a first-round election that was annulled because the Supreme Court ruled that electoral lists included made-up names and dead people.

Maldives, officially the Republic of the Maldives and also referred to as the Maldive Islands, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean.
