ET-ZigWheels Awards for 2010 witnessed the dominance of Detroit-based auto manufacturer Ford that bagged awards, including the Car of the Year title for its first made-for-India small car, Figo. Figo also won in the Premium Hatchback and the zigwheels.com Viewers’ Choice Car of the Year categories. Ford sold 83887 units of Figo and nearly tripled its sales volume in 2010 against a total of 29488 cars sold in 2009, in India.
Yamaha SZ-X won both the top awards in the bike category. The Japanese bike maker won the 150cc Commuter Motorcycle of the Year and the zigwheels.com Viewers’ Choice Bike of the Year award. , Suzuki GSX- R1000 won the CBU Super Bike of the Year. Bajaj Discover 150 DTSi emerged as the Best Value for Money Vehicle, while Honda CB Unicorn Dazzier won the MotorCycle of the Year up to 180cc.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor was awarded the Car Maker of the Year, while Hero Honda walked away with the Bike Maker of the Year trophy for the second year in a row.
Volkswagen Vento’s innovative campaign of a talking newspaper ad, created by advertising agency DDB India, won the Best Automotive Advertising Campaign of the Year award. Vento also bagged the Premium Compact Sedan of the Year award. Jaguar XF won the CBU Prestige Sedan of the Year, while the Luxury Prestige Sedan of the Year went to BMW 5 Series. CBU Sportscar of the Year award went to Mercedes Benz-SLS while Porsche Cayenne was declared the CBU SUV of the Year. Skoda Yeti won the Best Design of the Year award, while the Most Fun to Drive Vehicle trophy was awarded to Volkswagen Polo 1.6.
