Scientists have identified five genes which raise the risk of Alzheimer's disease. It would be a breakthrough for the effective treatment of the disease. International team of scientists from the US and Britain said that with the discovery of the five new genes, a total of 10 genes are now known to be linked with the most common form of dementia.
Scientists carried out a research under which they analysed the DNA of nearly 60000 people with and without disease. The research would provide scientists clues as to how the disease might develop. The identification of genes could lead to the development of drug treatments.
