Gujarat Government launches new Industrial Policy

The new Industrial Policy 2020 is in line with the centre's Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan . The new policy will replace the old policy that expired on December 31, 2019.

Gujarat state government has announced a new industrial policy. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani made the announcement at a press conference in Gandhinagar on August 7, 2020.

Gujarat's new Industrial policy is divided in 15 thrust areas in core sectors and sunrise sectors. The thrust areas in Core sectors will include:

- Industrial Machinery & equipment

- Electrical machinery & equipment

- Auto & Auto Components

- Pharmaceuticals & Medical devices

- Chemicals, Technical Textiles

- Agro & Food Processing

- Gems & Jewelry

- Ceramics.

The thrust areas in sunrise sectors will include thrust areas like Industry 4.0:

- Manufacturing, Electric Vehicle and its components

- Waste management projects

- Green Energy including Solar & Wind Equipment

- Eco-friendly compostable material for substitutes to traditional plastics.

- The thrust on 100 percent export oriented units will be given irrespective of the sector.
