Stephen Harper the Canadian Prime Minister cancelled the proceedings of Parliament on 30 December 2009. The cancellation of the Parliament blocked all legislations, which were to take place through the parliamentary proceedings.
The Prime Minister reasoned that he did so because he wanted to introduce a new economic plan for the nation in March 2010. The new session will not begin until March 2010.
However, the opposition accused the Prime Minister of avoiding the issue of Afghans detained by the Canadian troops. They alleged that the Canadian soldiers detained and abused Afghans before they handed the prisoners to Afghan authorities.
