Hot air balloon crashed near Luxor, Egypt on 26 February 2013 because of mid-air gas explosion, which killed 19 European and Asian tourists. The blast took place at 1000 feet (300 metres). The deceased were from Hong Kong, Japan, France and Britain.
One tourist as well as a pilot survived the blast. The accident took place over banks of River Nile. Tourists going to Luxor are fascinated with the hot air ballooning. However, there has been a downturn in tourism industry of Egypt since 2011 uprising and protests.
