A three day India-Japan Global Partnership Summit is scheduled to be held in Tokyo in September 2011 to boost people-to-people contact and promote all-round cooperation between the two countries. The decision to hold the summit indicates a growing emphasis on non-political and Track-II initiatives to strengthen bilateral relations. The summit is aimed at enhancing socio-economic, cultural and spiritual bonding between India and Japan and strengthening economic ties, regional integration and trade. The summit is due to have an India-Japan EXPO and five concurrent fora on business, academics, policy, youth and culture and non-governmental initiatives. The focus will be on multiple sectors like agriculture, energy, manufacturing, healthcare, banking, information and communication technologies. Japan's former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama who was on a visit to India described the summit as Summit of two civilisations.
