Irish cricketer Kevin O'Brien scored the fastest World Cup century in the ICC World Cup’s Group B match against England on 2 March 2011. His score of 113 out of just 63 balls helped Ireland defeat England by three wickets at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. Batting first, England made 327 for eight, which Ireland overhauled in the final over.
A partnership of 162 runs off 103 balls for the sixth wicket between O'Brien and Alex Cusack (47) veered Ireland towards victory.
O'Brien brought up his century in just 50 balls surpassing Matthew Hayden's effort of a hundred in 66 balls against South Africa at St. Kitts, West Indies in 2007 ICC World Cup.
