Prashant Kishor, the well-known election strategist turned politician, has officially launched his new political party, the "Jan Suraj Party," in Patna. During the event, he shared that the party has been active for the past two years and has recently received formal approval from the Election Commission of India.

Prashant Kishor has appointed Manoj Bharti as the acting president of the Jan Suraj Party. A former diplomat is one of the key members of the Prashant Kishor core team.
Manoj Bharti, a resident of Madhubani is an IIT graduate and former diplomat. He studied at Netarhat School in Jharkhand, then went to IIT Kanpur, and later earned an M.Tech degree from IIT Delhi. He has also served in the Indian Foreign Service and has been India's ambassador to Ukraine, Belarus, Timor-Leste, and Indonesia.
Will Jan Suraj Contest in Bihar Elections 2025?
Now that the Jan Suraj Party is officially recognized as a political party, it is gearing up to contest all seats in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
The Bihar State Assembly elections are scheduled to be contested in the year 2025. Till then Prashant Kishore has shown conviction of strengthening the party to be able to contest on all 243 state assemblies of Bihar.\

Jan Suraj will Not Get Charkha as Party Symbol
Currently, there are 190 election symbols available on the Election Commission's website. According to the rules, a newly formed party can only choose its party symbol from the available options.
Jan Suraj party has been using Mahatma Gandhi and his “Charkha” on all of its banners and posters before even the launch. As per the media report, the party officials want Charkha as their election symbol. However, since it is not listed in the options provided by the Election Commission, the party will need to select a different symbol.
Jan Suraj’s Party Symbol: Walking Stick or Mic
Some of the available symbols include a walking stick, a pen nib with seven rays, a laptop, a gift pack, an envelope, binoculars, and a bat. It is believed that the party's top choices might be the walking stick or the microphone.
According to various media sources, if not Charkha, the party officials might choose Walking Stick or Mic as the party symbol.
