Sleeping is a vital component of our everyday lives. It is necessary to preserve our general health and well-being by giving our body proper rest. Most normal adults require 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night in order to feel refreshed and give their maximum performance.
However, a Japanese businessman claimed that for the previous 12 years, he had only slept for 30 minutes each day. He further said that by doing this, his productivity at work has significantly increased.
Who is the Japanese Man Who Sleeps Only for 30 Min?
Daisuke Hori, a 40-year-old man from western Japan's Hyogo prefecture, is said to have trained his body and mind to operate well on little sleep.
Hori from Hyogo prefecture in western Japan, reportedly told the South China Morning Post (SCMP) that he had trained his body and brain to function properly on little sleep.

Japanese Man Sleeps Only 30 Minutes Why?
Hori is an entrepreneur who enjoys painting, music, and mechanical design. Daisuke Hori started cutting back on his sleep 12 years ago in order to have more hours of activity each day. Eventually, he was only getting 30 to 45 minutes of sleep per day.
Speaking with the South China Morning Post, Hori stated, "Those who need sustained focus in their work benefit more from high-quality sleep than long sleep."
"For example, firefighters and physicians relax less yet still work very efficiently. You can avoid tiredness if you exercise or drink coffee an hour before eating," said Hori while explaining his statement.
Is the Japanese Man's 30 Minutes Sleep Claim True?
In order to investigate Hori's claims further, Yomiuri TV in Japan ran a reality program called "Will You Go With Me?" with him. According to the reality show, Hori once slept for a mere 26 minutes, woke up with a lot of energy, and even made it to the gym.
Going by Hori's online résumé, he has trained over 2,100 pupils to become "ultra-short sleepers." One of the students even told Yomiuri TV that Hori helped her reduce her sleep duration from eight hours to just ninety minutes.
