John Terry, the captain of Chelsea in the premier league announced his retirement from International Football on 24 September 2012. The central defender came up with this decision one day before the Football Association was supposed to hear the claim of using racial abusive language in the notorious Anton Ferdinand incident.
The 31-year footballer made 78 international appearances in international match. His last appearance was in the world cup qualifier against Moldova. Terry was the captain for the national football team of England from August 2006 to February 2010 and from March 2011 to February 2012. The former captain of England was named as the UEFA Club Defender of the Year in 2005, 2008 and 2009. He was also named as the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2005.
