JSW Energy on 30 December 2010 commissioned the second unit of 300 MW of its 1,200 MW (4x300 MW) power project at Jaigad in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. After the commissioning of the second unit the the operating capacity at Ratnagiri moved up to 600 MW. The second unit commissioned by JSW Energy second will reduce the power deficit in the Maharashtra. JSW Energy focuses currently on delivering power solutions in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.
JSW Energy has an operational capacity of 1730 MW and an additional 1410 MW of capacity is in an advanced stage of completion. JSW Energy intends to enter power transmission, distribution, generation through non-conventional sources and tie-ups with well-known equipment manufacturers and suppliers.
