King’s Speech Swept the Awards at the 2011 Oscars

The King's Speech swept the top honours at the 83rd Academy Awards (2011 Oscars) with four trophies.

The 83rd Academy Awards (2011 Oscars) ceremony was held at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California on 27 February 2011. James Franco and Anne Hathaway were the presenters of the award ceremony. The King's Speech swept the top honours at the 83rd Academy Awards with four trophies (Best Motion Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Actor in a Lead Role). Directed by Tom Hooper the King’s Speech revolves around the story of King George VI of Britain who reluctantly  ascended to the throne and the speech therapist who helped the unsure monarch become worthy of it. The other top winners of the evening were Inception with 4 trophies (Achievement in Cinematography, Achievement in Sound Mixing, Achievement in Sound Editing and Achievement in Visual Effects), The Social Network with 3 trophies (Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score and Achievement in Film Editing). Two times Academy Award winner AR Rahman was nominated for Best Original Song and Best Original Score. He however lost out on both the trophies.
