Land customs station inaugurated at Zokhawthar in Mizoram along the Indo-Myanmar border
Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated a land customs station at the Indo-Myanmar border trade centre at Zokhawthar in Champhai district of Mizoram.
Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman on 26 March 2015 inaugurated a land customs station at the Indo-Myanmar border trade centre at Zokhawthar in Champhai district of Mizoram.
The Zokhawthar Land Customs Station is equipped with a weigh bridge, plant quarantine building and toll-gate, and was since 2012 authorised to facilitate trade of 62 different commodities.
Beside, Sitharaman also promised the village leaders of Zokhawthar that a branch of State Bank of India and a post office would soon be established in the border trade centre village.
The Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to pursue development work in the North-Eastern states on a mission mode. Thus the Prime Minister had asked all Union Ministers to quickly deal with all matters and issues of people of these states and sort out them as soon as possible and make ground visits whenever needed.
