Rohini Gram Panchayat in Shirpur taluka, Dhule district, Maharashtra, has earned the Gold Award in the National e-Governance Awards 2025, marking a significant milestone for rural digital transformation. Rohini, a village that comprises the tribal community, has become a national model for rural governance powered by technology. 

Which Indian Village Got Gold Medal?

The Gram Panchayat will be given the award at the 28th National e-Government Conference in Visakhapatnam on June 9, 2025, after being chosen from more than 1.45 lakh entries submitted throughout India in the Grassroots Level Initiatives category.

Under the National e-Government Awards 2025's "Grassroots Level Initiatives" category, Rohini Gram Panchayat has been given the Gold Award. The award is to be presented by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG). The community is renowned for introducing more than 956 digital services and is a prime example of digital inclusion, particularly for Scheduled Areas.

Digital Initiatives Adopted by Indian Village

This project is based in a fully tribal area in the Dhule district of Maharashtra.

It has created a completely online system to provide important government services easily.

  • Birth and death certificates can now be received through WhatsApp or email.
  • People can pay fees online and use a simple and user-friendly website.
  • All services are given within 7 working days, as per the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act.

This system helps people in remote areas get their work done quickly without needing to visit government offices.
